Background:The present study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of sildenafil (Viagra), marketed by Pfizer in a population of Thai men, who have sex with men (MSM) using the Erectile Dysfunction (ED) questionnaire.
Methods:A total of 534 men with an average age of 57.3 ± 6.8 years, who have been previously diagnosed with erectile dysfunction and/or use a questionnaire for the erectile dysfunction, were randomly divided into two groups: group 1: Viagra (100 mg) group (n = 351), and group 2: sildenafil (100 mg) group (n = 357), after an initial questionnaire. The patients were followed up at regular intervals after 24 months and then at the end of the study, which is the time to the most successful response. A questionnaire was used for the evaluation of the severity of sexual dysfunction, and the patients were observed and followed up after they had been assessed for ED and had the Erectile Dysfunction questionnaire completed at the end of the study.
Results:During the study period, there were 27.3% men in group 1 and 29.2% men in group 2, while 65.6% of the patients in group 1 and 66.7% of the patients in group 2 were satisfied with the Erectile Dysfunction questionnaire. The median score of ED symptoms was 3.8, and the proportion of patients with an ED score of 0-2 was 77.2%. The proportion of patients with ED score of 0-2 was significantly higher in the group with sildenafil compared to the group with sildenafil and compared to those with the group with sildenafil and compared to those with sildenafil and compared to those with the group with sildenafil.
